Canada: public lectures are now demonstrations

Canada braces for the coming day of Monday October 11th, when thousands of demonstrations will be taking place on campuses all around the country.

The Canadian student movement received a massive boost in numbers today, by a court ruling that found Alex Hundert to have breached his “no demonstration” bail condition for speaking as an invited panellist at two recent university events. Following this historic ruling, it is only reasonable to say that any student, faculty member or invited speaker participating in any public lecture on campus is to be legally regarded as a participator in a demonstration.

It is yet to be clarified if there will be increased police presence in classrooms, and whether campus police units will be receiving additional funding for riot gear and training.
